The powers that be have spent a great deal of time analysing daily tasks and breaking them down into small components.
Isn’t it about time we put some of them back together and accepted that while it’s beneficial to break some down for measurement, for many it’s a waste of time and money? Let’s stop measuring so much and get on with doing more.
Not only do we measure too much, but we report too much as well. How many of those reports actually get read? All that wasted time – and it’s so mind-numbing too, for the reader and for the writer. Who pays for all this unnecessary extra work?
